Black Sesame Walnut Paste

  • 2 cups walnuts
  • 2 cups black sesame
  • 1 cup cane sugar
  • Pinch of salt

  1. Cook and stir the sesame seeds in a large skillet over medium heat until the seeds smell toasted and begin to pop, about 7 minutes.
  2. While toasting the sesame seeds, cook the walnuts in the microwave (or air fryer) until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  3. Allow the sesame seeds and walnuts to cool to room temperature (this step is important to bring out the oils and fragrance before blending).
  4. Once cool, place the sesame seeds and walnuts into a blender and add the sugar and pinch of salt.
  5. Blend until finely ground.
  6. Serve on peanut butter toast, oatmeal, milk, banana bread, mochi, or anything really! Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
