Cozy shmozy Apple Pie

  • Apples (Plus for different kids!)
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Cinnamon Powder
  • Nutmeg
  • Pumpkin Spice
  • Brown sugar
  • Salt
  • Butter
  • Pre-made pie dough mix (You can make your own crust of course but this is a faster recipe version)
  • Pie tins

  1. Peel apples: Peel the apples and get them nice and get them nice and nakey.
  2. Slice: Slice the apples and put them into a large bowl, I like them sliced fairly big for chunky bites.
  3. Add all the fall flavors: Add in the cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin spice, brown sugar, a tiny sprinkle of salt, throw some butter in there too and mix. Refrigerate.
  4. Mix the dough: Follow the instructions on the box but typically you need to add some water and milk, sometimes an egg! I usually add some more spices and butter even if it doesn't say so because WHY NOT. Cover the dough and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes (A lot of people do this longer but 30 minutes works for me!)
  5. Roll: Roll the dough into pan-sized circles, If you have a rolling pin - great, otherwise a wine bottle works just fine.
  6. Line tins: Depending on whether you want your pies to be "open-faced" or "closed face" you'll need 2, 3, or 4 circles (one for the top and one for the bottom). I did one open-faced and one closed face so I needed 3 dough rounds. Line the bottom of your tin and get ready to put those apples in!
  7. Add apples: The apples are nice and juicy so load them up! I add cinnamon sticks and more butter!
  8. Cover pie (for closed face): Close the top of the pie and use a fork to seal the sides. You can add little cute designs with a knife or fork, also!
  9. Bake: Bake these bad boys for at least 30-40 minutes but this does depend on how hot you bake it at. I did 350 for 40 minutes, just enough for the butter to melt and apples to get goey and crust to get crusty. Keep an eye on your pie and just go with the flow.
  10. Eat: Take them out and top with some cinnamon spice and serve alone or with vanilla ice cream!

Serve with ice cream and sprinkle some cinnamon!
