Prep Time
Ingredients
dough:
2 1/2 cups bread flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 packet active dry
or
instant yeast
1 cup warm water
topping:
coarse salt
butter
baking soda
Preparation
mix all dough ingredients in bowl until fully combined
knead dough for 5-8 minutes
transfer dough to lightly greased bowl (just oil the bowl you mixed the dough in) and let rise for 30 mins to 1 hr
pour boiling water into a 9" square pan (or similar) and add baking soda and mix until soda is dissolved. let cool to lukewarm or cooler
preheat oven to 475 F and prepare baking sheet with parchment paper or grease
divide dough into 8 pieces and let rest for 5 minutes
make into pretzels
put pretzels in baking soda water and leave each pretzel for 2 minutes to soak
bake for 8-9 minutes or until golden brown
brush with melted butter and top with coarse salt
